Mattress in a Box!

Before we begin, some of you saw our good news (babies!) on Facebook and Instagram last night. We are crazy thrilled and heck yes even a little freaked out. I’ll have a post about that soon!

We’ve been full steam ahead on the guest bedroom since we last chatted our plans. We started our work with perhaps the most crucial component of any room of all—we now have a bed!

While this room is meant for guests, we plan to do lots of napping in here. I also loved how some of you “vacation” in your guest room space, with coffee and NetFlix in bed. That sounds AMAZING! So yes, while this is a guest room it’s also meant to be our little at-home retreat. And that meant the bed had to be really good.

Let’s talk the mattress. I am so excited to be partnering with Sleep Innovations today. They are known for their high-quality mattress that expands right out of the box.

I’ve been a fan of theirs for a long time. I had my first experience with a Sleep Innovations mattress at a friend’s house—it. was. amazing. sleep. I’m a back sleeper, but I also toss and turn. This mattress can handle all of that. It kept me cool, it supported my back… it just made it so easy to get comfortable. Other awesome benefits: it comes in a super-convenient-to-handle box and it is relatively affordable! A queen can be anywhere from $450 – $650 depending on the model you choose.

So let’s talk about the whole “in a box” and expansion thing. How does it work? It’s super simple. We made a little video to show how this mattress comes to life. It started expanding as soon as we opened it. I expected it to launch out of the box at Mach speed, but it was nice and smooth. No one poked an eye out.

And just in case you can’t watch the video, it really is as easy as sliding it out of the box and unfolding it…

… then cutting the plastic wrap away.

Our specific mattress is the Sleep Innovations 12-inch Gel Swirl Memory Foam Mattress.

It’s made up of three layers of foam, one for cradling comfort, one for airflow and one for support. This specific model has a super-comfy fabric top, just to add a little more lux to the experience. I plan to do an update after we’ve slept in it a few more times, but I can already tell you that the lack of “motion transfer” is a godsend. Aaron is very thankful, lemme tell ya.

Overall, we’re really loving this new little space.

Once the mattress was set up we added polka dot sheets (on super sale btw) and soon we’ll be adding the rest of the bedding. We’re also sporting a headboard now (another Bargains & Buyouts find) and after a near-miss with the box spring, we’ve got one of those too. It’s starting to look like a real room! I think we’re going to end up pretty close to our mood board plans, so it’s just a matter of getting it all together. Oh yea… and I have to paint! If you follow me on Instagram and Facebook you already know I’ve started that and will share soon.

Now excuse me while I go catch a little nap…
